Planet Pointe is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing more sustainability to dance. Through upcycling old pointe shoes into usable items, Planet Pointe introduces more eco-consciousness into the ballet community, given dancers go through multiple pointe shoes quickly.
Pointe shoes of any kind are deeply appreciated and can be donated in any Planet Pointe Donation Box (see “locations” page). Thank you for your generosity and support for sustainability everywhere!

My name is Soraya Arjomand and I am a current junior at Bellevue High School who loves dance, student government, and sustainability. I have been training at the Pacific Northwest Ballet School since I was 4 years old with completing spring and summer intensives at the Royal Ballet School of London, American Ballet Theatre, Boston Ballet school, and NYU Tisch School of the Arts. I have so much passion for both dance and sustainability, and thus Planet Pointe was created to combine my love for both.
On the sustainability front, I spoke to the Bellevue School District board to help pass Sustainability Policy 6811 (6811.pdf (finalsite.net)). Currently, I am on the Sustainability Ambassadors team which organizes sustainability conferences and encourages youth to take action in sustainability in their daily lives. I am a junior at The Overlake School and a level VII student at the Pacific Northwest Ballet School. As the Product Production Lead for Planet Pointe, I oversee the crafting of the organization’s signature Planet Pointe Pouch.
I have participated in summer intensives at the Miami City Ballet School and Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet. When not dancing, I love to bake and sew clothes for my friends!
Hi! My name is Amelia and I’m a sophomore at Bellevue High School. I did ballet and other styles of dance when I was younger, but later switched to gymnastics and most recently cheerleading! Perfecting the environment has always been a huge passion of mine so I’m very grateful for this opportunity to be a part of Planet Pointe
Hello! My name is Katelyn Wong and I am currently a sophomore at Bellevue High School. I have been dancing since I was 3 years old, and am currently at Backstage Dance Studio. My favorite style of dance is contemporary but I also enjoy ballet/pointe! In addition to attending classes, I also help as a student teacher, training the next generation of dancers in a variety of styles including ballet, hip hop, tap, jazz, contemporary, acro, etc.
Aside from dance, I am also extremely passionate in my leadership class council at school and a member of the Bellevue Youth Council ran by the City of Bellevue. Ever since I was little I always took a great interest in sustainability, forcing my mom to stop using ziploc bags and instead reusable containers for my school lunches.
This all contributes to my interest in Planet Pointe! From dance, to leadership, to sustainability, helping with Planet Pointe is a fulfilling opportunity as I’m grateful to be contributing in helping our broader dance community!
Hi! My name is Jiayue Ge and I’m a sophomore at Newport High School. I’ve been dancing since I was 6 years old starting with tap, later focusing on ballet. I’ve trained at International Dance Academy, Issaquah Dance Theater, Pacific Northwest Ballet, and now currently at International Ballet Academy. Aside from dance, I love learning about marketing, I’ve been taking classes at Newport since freshman year and just this year joined DECA. I’m excited to work with Planet Pointe and promote sustainability in the dance community!
Hi! My name is Mia Palcisco and I am currently a junior at Bellevue High School. I used to dance a ton when I was younger, including tap, hip hop, and ballet. For the last seven years, I have been doing club and high school volleyball. Aside from sports, I love to run, read, shop, and volunteer. My favorite memories come from volunteering with my high school team at the Boys & Girls Club to run a volleyball camp for younger ages!
I am also a very avid recycler. I have always made my family – especially my brother – to make sure they are putting the appropriate plastics in the recycling bin and even make them pick it out of the trash if it was not meant to be there.
This all plays a part in my interest in Planet Pointe! I am excited to be working with such a great organization to improve the community in an environmentally sustainable way.

I don’t dance, but I am a lover of the arts. My interests in architecture and biology relate perfectly to Planet Pointe’s mission of merging dance and sustainability. I’m excited for all the accomplishments Planet Pointe will have in the future!
Hello! I am a junior at International Community School and used to dance at PNB for 10 years. I love to draw and make music now while also spending time in lots of after-school clubs such as FBLA, NAHS, and HOSA. I’ve spearheaded many community events and service projects and love to bring my insights to help expand Planet Pointe!
Hi, my name is Carmen Scheyer and I’m a current sophomore at Bellevue High School. I used to do ballet and other forms of dance at Emerald Ballet Academy and Elizabez Dance Demotions growing up which led to me participating in dance performances and competitions such as The Nutcracker and YAGP.
Other than that, I play soccer, basketball, and softball through clubs and school. I love playing music, crocheting, reading, and volunteering. I have always promoted sustainability in my community through correct recycling and giving informative presentations on waste.
Our founder Soraya is one of my best friends and fellow dancer who has motivated me to take part in such a great organization that improves sustainability!

Hi! I’m Elina Nartates and I’m in charge of the website! I am a junior at Newport High School and I’ve been dancing at Pacific Northwest Ballet for 10 years now. At school, I am in leadership for UNICEF, FASA, Neuroscience Club, and Psychology Club. I’m also a part of DECA and NHS. I love dance, neuroscience, and art! In my freetime I like to design and do art. I’m so excited to be a part of this team!!
